Robert and Gwen Petzoldt, formerly of Burbank, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Aug. 26 in Magalia, Calif. Their family traveled to Magalia, where they now live, for a surprise anniversary celebration. They were married on Sept. 6, 1946.

Bob and Gwen met when Bob returned home from World War II.

Gwen was born and raised in Los Angeles. She graduated from Polytechnic High School. Following marriage she became a homemaker.

While serving in World War II Bob received a Purple Heart as a POW. Upon returning home he stole his best friend's girl as they say! He worked as a gaffer, working on such classics as The Doris Day Show and In Love and War. A gaffer is a person who worked on electrical lighting for studios.

In 1964 Bob and Gwen moved from Los Angeles to Burbank where they lived until 1988. They now live in Magalia.

They have four children: Robert Petzoldt III and Paul Petzoldt, both of Burbank, Sharon Murray of Thousand Oaks and Susan Scott of Wolfsonville, Ore.
