Beware if you visit the Stough Canyon Nature Center on Oct. 17 and 18 at night.
Those scary Burbank nature volunteers are at it again and will be turning the center into the "Revenge of Chaos Canyon" with man-eating plants, toxic creatures and terrifiying experiments.
More than 75 volunteers devote a total of about 1,200 hours each year creating and conducting the annual Haunted Adventure at the Stough Canyon Nature Center in Burbank.
The event, run by the city of Burbank, gets from 800 to 1,000 people over the two nights.
"Dead"icated volunteers and staff have been working on various ghoulish scenes, creating the "nature gone wild" story, making fun props and rehearsing their scare tactics all toward making this year's haunt the best ever.
The volunteers include nature docents, many high school students and individuals who just love to scare people.
It can be very scary to young children, so no one under 6 years is allowed and even older children might have nightmares. But for the children and adults who like to be frightened, this is the event for you.
The $5 tickets will be sold each night, Oct. 17 and 18, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at Stough Park, located near the Starlight Bowl off of Walnut Avenue in Burbank. Participants are then shuttled in groups by Burbank transportation vans to the haunted "Chaos Canyon" for their 15-minute tour.
There will be face painting, live animals and more at Stough Park while waiting for your tour. Refreshments and souvenirs will be sold.
For more information on this frightening fun, please call 818-238-5440.
