My next-door neighbor
Mike Moynahan
every year decorates the front of his house with white lights and then you can hear him hammering and pounding as he puts up the sign announcing when Santa Claus is coming to visit our neighborhood.
You see! Mike has special connections to Santa and he makes a visit every year to our little Burbank neighborhood.
This pass Friday, was the night Santa came. You could hear Christmas music playing all through the neighborhood and Santa's helpers getting everything set up. There was a table with sugar and chocolate chip cookies and some hot cider to warm your tummy on a chilly Burbank evening.
Just before Santa was to arrive at 6 p.m., a line of children and their parents started to form as they waited for Santa's arrival. This year, Santa was a little late as he got stuck in a lot of reindeer traffic and some bad weather to get to our little Burbank neighborhood.
He finally made it, and soon you could hear the "ho, ho, ho" and all the children got excited.
Some ran up to him right away and others shied away, grabbing their parents pant legs. But soon the children began sitting on Santa's lap while their parents took pictures and then they would tell him what they wanted for Christmas.
Even some of the parents sat with Santa. Everyone was given a candy cane after their visit by Santa' little helpers
Nessa Moynahan
and
Sophie Wiegand
and Sarah Ochenkaski.
A group of Girl Scouts came and sang a couple of Christmas songs for Santa. It was a nice little way to spend an evening as this is what Christmas is all about, the sounds of children laughing, neighbors you never get to see because they are busy working throughout the year. It brings the neighborhood together and spreads Christmas joy to everyone!
I would like to wish all the Valley News Readers and their families a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
