The Martial Arts History Museum is proud to feature Chef
Maru Baba
, former operator of the Kisho Restaurant in Valencia, as our host of the Sushi Seminar coming this Saturday, Aug. 18 at the Museum.
Chef Baba, now in the process of opening a new restaurant, DeAsian-Vu also in Valencia, will take you through a step-by-step process of the wonderful world of sushi. In this seminar/workshop, Chef Baba will be sharing the history of sushi, showing you the entire process of making sushi, how to get those stubborn rice to stick together and if we're lucky, he may have some free samples to go around.
"Asian customs as well as health issues is an essential part of martial arts traditions," notes museum president
Michael Matsuda
. "Chef Baba is an amazing chef and his sushi is one of the best I've ever tasted. I'm not a big sushi eater, but I don't know what he does to his sushi that makes it more than delicious. I encourage people who want to see what's going to be served at DeAsian-Vu (to attend). This is a great opportunity."
This is a unique opportunity to get a close-up look at how sushi is made properly. Here visitors can learn about what to look for in a good sushi or whether making sushi themselves is an easy task or better left for the masters.
"Education, learning and even tasting is the key to having a great product. Chef Maru Baba is an expert in his field and this is the perfect chance to ask and find the answers to anything you've ever wanted to know about sushi," concludes Matsuda.
The Sushi Seminar/Workshop will take place at the Martial Arts History Museum at 1:30 pm at 24406 San Fernando Road, Santa Clarita. Contact phone number is (661) 255-3322 or email info@MAmuseum.com. Entrance into the museum is required, $6 for adults, $3 for kids and seniors.
