'SNL' vet gives laughter to homeless
Contributed by: Patricia Smart on 7/30/2008

When "Saturday Night Live" cast veteran Victoria Jackson chatted with a trio of homeless friends at a Burbank coffee shop, an idea was born: Homeless people need entertainment, too.

So Jackson proposed the idea to His Hand Extended, a Burbank-area ministry that serves the homeless and others in need.

The result was "Monday Night Live," launching Monday evening, Aug. 4, from 5-8 p.m., at Media City Church, 269 E. Providencia, Burbank, at Third and Providencia, between Glenoaks and San Fernando Road.

Jackson's zany comedy, a potluck dinner and live music will be featured at this free event for the homeless, co-hosted by His Hand Extended of Media City Church.

In an economy where foreclosures are up and employment is down, Jackson's idea is a rare light in a tunnel.

Whether recognized for six seasons on "Saturday Night Live," 22 appearances on "The Tonight Show" or dozens of television and film roles, Jackson's unforgettable voice and hilarious insights have made her an icon of comedy.
