Stough Canyon Nature Center contributors

The Stough Canyon Nature Center located in the beautiful Verdugo Mountains offers educational and interactive displays and nature programs for all ages, interests and abilities. The Center has received many donations since it opened in 2001. Some of the local Burbank businesses which have contributed include Handy Market, 2514 W.Magnolia Blvd., Hometown Buffet, 1850 Empire Ave. and IKEA, 600 N. San Fernando Rd. Trader Joe's, Martino's Bakery, Warner Bros., OSH and Lowe's have all contributed as well. Their donations to the Center include refreshments for our participants and volunteers, computer equipment, cabinets, tables, tools and door prize items. These contributions help to enhance the visitor's nature experience and create a very pleasant atmosphere for our staff and volunteers.

In addition, the Center also receives much needed help in the form of expertise and time. Groups and organizationswhich have contributed in this way include the Burbank Nature Docents, the Sidewalk Astronomers, the Southwestern Herpetologists, the Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts. The time they have donated have helped to create and maintain a plant walk, clean up our trails, teach children about various nature subjects such asthe solar systemand reptiles, install trail signage and much more.

Be sure to visit the Stough Canyon Nature Center to see how these donations have increased our nature experience. Also, be sure to visit some of the local businesses which have made these very valuable contributions.
