ShowCamp in Burbank is proudly presenting "Happily Ever After?," its summer musical production for 2008.
Shows will be Aug. 1, 2 and 3 in the Glendale Community College Auditorium.
"Happily Ever After?" is the story about a group of young minstrels and storybook characters who live in the Kingdom of the Valley under the care and guidance of the Fairy Godmother.
Together, they battle the Wicked Witch and the forces of darkness who threaten their world.
With hopeful determination, they set out, armed only with their talent and wit in search of the great Happily Ever After.
This is the ninth summer program, with a 90-member cast, ages 8-24, mainly filled with students from local Burbank schools. They have been in rehearsals during July in preparation of this wonderful show.
Applying the technical training they receive in class, ShowCamp performers have the opportunity to showcase their talents in an original musical written just for them.
"Happily Ever After?" was first performed in 2001, the second year of ShowCamp. Some of the cast members in this year's show were also in that production.
ShowCamp is a nonprofit corporation, under the direction of
Darrell and
Jenny Bishop. During the past nine years, ShowCamp has become a service provider to the schools offering year-round performing arts education and production with musical performances at The Alex Theatre, The Colony Theatre, Burbank High School and throughout the community.
Each summer, classes are offered in dance, music, acting, video production and art. This summer, the classes were held on the Burbank High School campus, and the show will be performed on stage at the Glendale Community College auditorium.
Darrell Bishop's ShowCamp, known for being able to showcase the talents of a large children's cast, has created a show in "Happily Ever After?" that is full of fantasy and magic.
