On Sunday, Feb. 11th at 6 p.m., Shakespeare at Play will hold its annual
Murder Mystery Dinner Dance Fundraiser at The Castaway Restaurant in Burbank.
Shakespeare at Play brings classical theatre into the schools and local communities in the San Fernando Valley. Without any government funding, the non-profit company relies on generous donations from individuals, grants from corporations and foundations, as well as events to fund its work. Proceeds from this event fund community arts education programs.
In August 2006, Shakespeare at Play produced a four Sunday Shakespeare Festival of plays in Burbank's Lincoln Park next to the Buena Vista Branch Library. The project was so well received, that the Burbank Library has requested more performances for Summer 2007.
The fall brought workshops and productions in partnership with The Colony Theatre Company for the LAUSD and Burbank Schools; this program continues
throughout the school year.
Upcoming projects include the April 21st, 10:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Celebration of Shakespeare's Birthday at the Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens in San Marino. Shakespeare at Play will perform throughout the day scenes from several of Shakespeares beloved plays.
The Murder Mystery Fundraiser festivities begin at 6 p.m. The evening includes a silent auction, a full dinner, and the Murder Mystery performance followed by dancing to the music of Bluzboy Johnny and the Sweet Soul Rhythm Band.
Tickets for the event are $55 in advance; $65 at the door. Group rates are also available. All tickets are tax-deductible.
The Castaway Restaurant is located at 1250 Harvard Road in Burbank.
Free self-parking is available.
Advance ticket purchase is suggested as this is a sell-out event.
For reservations or information please call Shakespeare at Play at (818) 566-1925.
