LA Cinema Club video workshop announces contest winnersThe video workshop of the LA Cinema Club met Wednesday Aug. 23 at the Little White Chapel in Burbank. Two contest were held one for videos of one minute or less and the second for videos on any subject up to 15 minutes in length.
In the one-minute contest
Pam and Walt Gilmore won first prize with "Planting Seeds" and
Howard Lockwood won second prize for "He's Late." Other entries included"Tech Support" by Pam and Walt Gilmore and "Go Fly A Kite" by
Lee and Joni Agnew.
First award for the long form videos was won by Lee and Joni Agnew for "Circus World" a documentary about the Circus Museum in Baraboo, Wisconsin.
Stan Whitsitt won second prize for his video "The Real American Beauty" a humorous look and Dandelions and making wine. The third-place award went to
Ron Rennie for his documentary on the total eclipse shoot in the Sahara.
Honorable mention went to
Bert Kraght for his video of a miniature horse called "Apple Cider" and to
Bob Iehl for his travel video "Playing the Tides."
All these videos will be eligible for the clubs annual contest in October as well as the International Amateur Video Festival to be held in Las Vegas October 10-12, 2006 by the Amateur Movie Makers Association, the American Motion Picture Society and the Ten Best Of The West.
The club meets the fourth Wednesday each month, except December, for screenings, video editing and shooting instruction and exchange of information. Members of the club range from AMMA Master Videographers to beginners and fans of videos. The hall is located on Jeffries between Hollywood Way and Avon with parking adjacent.
