William Shakespeare's gripping tragedy is centered on a world based on power and politics. Without conscience, Richard, the bard's most ruthless villain, launches his systematic bloody climb to the throne.
With charm, cunning and wit, Richard wins over any that are of use to him, and discards any that are in his way. In a corrupt land, vying for power is a way of life for Richard and for those around him.
No one is entirely innocent, and everyone is entangled in the web of intrigue that was the War of the Roses.
"Faction plays against faction, brother plots against brother, and with the skill of a master manipulator, Richard keeps everyone spinning until someone comes forward to rescue England from this 'bloody boar'."
Shakespeare at Play, a 501 c 3 non-profit company, brings Shakespeare and the classics into schools and communities.
The Colony Theatre is located at 555 N. Third St. in Burbank.
