By the time students enroll in Jack Flynn's "Real Estate Practice 120" class at Glendale Community College, they've already completed two basic courses in real estate and are preparing to test for their real estate licenses. According to Flynn, a long-time real estate instructor at the college, these students greatly appreciate hearing from experienced agents who can tell them what - and what not - to expect in their new careers.
Flynn was very pleased that Brad Korb once again took time out of a busy schedule to speak to the students - Korb has spoken to Flynn's classes before. Accompanying Korb was Shandi DeHaven, Sales Manager of the Brad Korb Team.
According to DeHaven, the two dozen or so students ranged in age from the early 20s to retirement.
"The questions they asked showed a big concern with the changing market today, and Brad was the perfect guy for them to be talking to," she said. "He's been in the business for so long that while this market may be new to a lot of agents, it's not new to him. Like most things, it's cyclical, and what you do with cycles is adapt to them."
Korb said many people get a skewed picture because they read state and national news stories about the real estate industry.
"They get information about the industry on a broad level, but not a micro-level, and so much in real estate depends on the specific region," Korb said. "I was able to give the students real-life examples of what's really going on in today's market right here in the Foothill area."
Flynn expects the students will benefit from Korb's presentation to the class: "He fielded questions well and left them feeling more confident about the challenges that await them in the future," Flynn said.
