S Calif. Introduction to Japanese Bullet Train
Contributed by: Chapman Communications on 1/25/2008

What: Issues such as transportation, greenhouse gas reduction and energy independence are at the forefront of policymaking and legislative discussions. A significant way to improve mobility, lessen traffic congestion and improve our air quality is by bringing high-speed trains to California. For that reason, a seminar will be held highlighting "Shinkansen," Japan's High-Speed Rail System.

The California High-Speed Rail Authority is currently working to plan and design a 700-mile high-speed train system for the State. A general obligation bond, which would provide critical state funding for the project, is set for the November 2008 ballot. The seminar will provide vital information to public officials, policy makers and the public about high-speed trains and their beneficial impact on Japan.

The seminar is being hosted by the Japan Overseas Rolling Stock Association
and the Institution for Transport Policy Studies.
