Leadership Burbank 2008 - Class Project Dedication

On May 21, 2008 at 4:30 p.m., the Leadership Burbank 2008 graduating class will dedicate a tortoise habitat and garden at Community Day School, located at 223 East Santa Anita Avenue, in Burbank.

Leadership Burbank is a community-based organization that offers a nine month leadership training program for people who live or work in Burbank. Through hands-on curriculum, leaders and emerging leaders have the opportunity to enhance their personal and professional skills, gain a deeper understanding of community dynamics, and build a network of colleagues and associates throughout the city.

Each Leadership Burbank graduating class creates a culminating project that reinforces the organization's mission of developing ideas and solutions that make Burbank a strong, sustainable and vibrant community. Class projects are designed to benefit the community, while also leaving a positive and lasting legacy of Leadership Burbank.

For 2008, the Leadership Burbank graduating class project, "Grow, Live, Learn;" consists of building an outdoor tortoise habitat and community garden at the Community Day School. The habitat and garden is a hands-on, unique teaching opportunity that will help students gain a personal understanding about a broad-range of curricular subjects such as life and physical sciences, as well as math and social studies. Additionally, the project will support important concepts such as conservation and environmental preservation.

While graduating class members have been hard at work fundraising and constructing the habitat and garden, they still need your help. Long-term maintenance of the project will require future funds.
