Contributed by: John Mlynar on 9/3/2008

The city of Palmdale's parks and recreation department is taking registrations for upcoming city excursions to the Museum of the American West on Sept. 20 and the Underwood Family Farms on Oct. 4.

The excursion to the Museum of the American West, formally known as the Autry Museum, costs $13 per person.

"The museum provides rich learning opportunities by exploring myths and realities of the West and its diverse populations," said Palmdale Recreation Supervisor Paula Leszkiewicz.

"The Underwood Family Farms trip is a delight for families to pick their own fruits and vegetables as well as enjoy the farm's Cowboy Weekend featuring stunt ropers, gunfighters and country music," Leszkiewicz said.

The cost is $16 per person.

Excursions offer residents day trips by coach bus to various Southern California cultural and amusement attractions. Registration fees include transportation and admission.

"People can get a full listing of excursions or register by visiting www.playpalmdale.org, the parks and recreation office or the Palmdale Oasis Park Center," said Leszkiewicz.
