'Friday Night Freestyle' skateboarding event set

The city of Palmdale is offering a free "Friday Night Freestyle" skateboarding event, with music and raffle prizes provided by 100.1 The Edge, on Friday, Aug. 8, at the Marie Kerr Park Skatepark, 39700 30th St. West in Palmdale.

"This is our second of three skating events that are perfect for both serious and recreational skaters and bladers," said Recreation Supervisor Lonnie Shipman. "Our final event will be held at the Christopher O'Leary Skatepark at Domenic Massari Park, 37716 55th St. East on Aug. 22."

Both events will run from 6 to 8 p.m. Cold drinks, chips and other snacks will be available for a nominal fee. Use of the skateparks is free. Helmets as well as elbow and knee pads are required.
