The city of Palmdale's "Next Generation" Youth Council will meet from 6:30-8 p.m. Monday, July 7, at the Larry Chimbole Cultural Center, 38350 Sierra Highway in Palmdale.
New members are welcome to attend.
Among the topics that will be discussed include the upcoming Youth Summit scheduled for Aug. 1, Youth Council representation at Thursday Night on the Square and the planning of a community project.
The Youth Council has been working on a survey to send out to other youth in the community.
"There are so many opportunities for our city's youth through this council," said Community Programs Supervisor
Trish Jones
. "From creating the kind of recreational programs that appeal to and benefit our young people, to developing the city's My Space page, to perhaps even producing and creating some youth-oriented programming for Channel 27, the city's cable channel, the possibilities are endless."
Residents between the ages of 12 and 25 who would like to be a part of the Next Generation Youth Council may call Jones at 661-267-5400.
The Youth Council was approved by the City Council as part of the city's Partners for a Better Palmdale (PBP) program in March 2007.
The mission statement of PBP is to make Palmdale the safest, healthiest and most vibrant city possible by bringing together the resources of businesses, neighborhoods, community groups, individuals and government.
