Local Quartz Hill teenager Alexis Kennedy won the LA84 Foundation Dive Festival on Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Santa Clarita Swim Stadium.

Kennedy competed against divers from all over North Los Angeles County in the 15-17 year old division.

"I have been diving for five years and this is the hardest competition of the season. I took fourth place last year in the 13-14 division, so this year I am so excited to get first. The other girls in my division are such great divers, I lost my confidence for a minute" Kennedy said.

Divers competing in the LA84 Foundation Summer Dive Festival came from pools all over the county - Santa Clarita, Long Beach, Valley, Pacific, and Carson.

Divers dive in local dive meets every Sunday for five to six meets and a regional dive meet, this year held in Cerritos, prior to diving in the LA84 meet, where all the divers come together to compete.
