SpaceAge Control, Inc. celebrated its 40th anniversary in Palmdale on June 6, 2008. For the past 40 years, the company has been a leader of innovative design, engineering and manufacturing of air data products and position sensors. Since 1968, SpaceAge Control's air data products have been used by virtually every commercial, general aviation and military aircraft company in the world, as well as a broad range of auto racing teams and auto manufacturers.
"We are extremely proud to have SpaceAge Control in Palmdale," said
Danny R. Roberts
, assistant executive director of the city of Palmdale's Community Redevelopment Agency. "They are a dynamic company that has grown from no market share in flight test air data products in 1974 to a 70 percent-plus market share today."
Using Palmdale as a base of operation and development, SpaceAge Control provides high-reliability and miniature-sized air data products and position sensors to numerous industries, including military and commercial aerospace, automotive, auto and boat racing, medical, industrial controls, construction, educational, and railroads.
The company's position sensors are known as the world's smallest position sensors.
Adding to their existing air data products, SpaceAge Control has developed innovative miniature air data probes, both "with" and "without" anti-icing and de-icing heaters.
These probes are the smallest in the aerospace industry and offer unique advantages of low power, low mass, and low drag, allowing aircraft to fly longer on the same amount of fuel.
The company's proximity to aerospace hubs of Palmdale's Plant 42, Edwards Air Force Base, El Mirage, Mojave, China Lake, and similar locations within a three-hour drive provides a key advantage during the development phase of new programs.
"It is wonderful to see a local company prosper so well in the city and also in the state," said Roberts. "They are a true testament to successfully doing business in Palmdale and in the State of California."
