Lancaster launches green Kids’ Zone
Contributed by: City of Lancaster on 8/5/2008

In keeping with efforts to reduce our community's impact on the environment, the city of Lancaster has launched a green "Kids' Zone" in the new "Going Green" section of its Web site.

The page offers a collection of links to children's games, activities, science experiments and other fun ways for kids to learn about the environment they live in.

"Today's children will determine the future of our planet, and it is essential that they learn how to protect it," said Mayor R. Rex Parris. "This page presents a plethora of innovative activities that teach children about the earth and environmental issues in a fun and entertaining way."

The Kids' Zone includes links to such sites as "Environmental Fair Science Projects and Ideas," "EPA Climate Change Kids' Site," "NASA for Students," "Project WILD" and "The BioDaVersityCode."

Different sites contain interactive games, puzzles, science experiments that can be done at home, kid-friendly information about the environment, teaching aids and more.

To view the new Kids' Zone, visit www.cityoflancasterca.org. Under "About Lancaster," click on "Going Green."
