Country star
Craig Morgan
will perform hits such as "That's What I Like About Sunday," "Redneck Yacht Club," "Little Bit of Life" and "International Harvester" at 8 p.m. Saturday, July 12, to kick off the Starlight Concerts Series at the Palmdale Amphitheater, located at Marie Kerr Park, 2723 Rancho Vista Blvd.
Admission is free.
"We're proud to have yet another great lineup of musical talent for the concert series," said Palmdale's Special Events Manager
Steve Buffalo
. "There is something for everyone's musical tastes and just the atmosphere of being outdoors on a beautiful summer evening make these free concerts something that friends and families can really enjoy."
In 2005, Morgan finished in the top 10 on Billboard magazine's top male country artists chart, ahead of
Alan Jackson
and
Josh Gracin
, and in the top 20 on the magazine's overall list of top country artists, besting
Sara Evans
,
Martina McBride
, Big & Rich and numerous others.
Billboard magazine also called Morgan "a writer and interpreter of highly visual story songs."
The Starlight Concert Series continues on Saturday, Aug. 2, at 8 p.m. with the
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
, followed by Motown legends and Rock and Roll Hall of Famers
The Temptations
on Saturday, Aug. 9, at 8 p.m, 80s superstars Loverboy on Saturday, Aug. 16, at 8 p.m, and finishes with Queen Nation, a tribute band to the English rock group Queen on Saturday, Sept. 6, at 7:30 p.m.
Gates open at 6 p.m. for all Starlight concerts, and guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Carry-in food, beverages, coolers, alcohol and pets are not permitted. Food vendors will be onsite.
