The Palmdale City Library's mystery book discussion group called "Mystery, Murder and Mayhem" will discuss the book "Nature Girl" by
Carl Hiaasen
at 7 p.m.Monday, July 14, at the Palmdale City Library, 700 East Palmdale Blvd. The event is free and open to anyone interested in mystery novels.
"Lovers of great mystery books will thoroughly enjoy this group, as it offers a wonderful opportunity to talk about great mysteries with other fans of the genre," said Librarian
Chice Davison
of the Palmdale City Library.
"In the book, 'Nature Girl' is Honey Santana, a divorced mom who is raising a precocious 12-year-old son, Fry," explained Davison. "She is known to do outrageous things in her quest to demand more decency and consideration from her fellow human beings. When a hapless real estate telephone solicitor, Boyd Shreave, interrupts her dinnertime, Honey concocts an elaborate plan for revenge that takes place in the Florida wilderness."
"In the meantime, a man named Sammy Tigertail, half Seminole, has his own problem," Davison added, "namely, what to do with the tourist who died on his boat after being struck by a harmless water snake. Santana's revenge brings the three characters and a few others together in a madcap mystery. The engaging, diverse and all-too-human screwball characters in this hilarious Florida romp carry the book to a satisfying close."
The discussion also provides disabled access with 72 hours' notice.
