The Palmdale Playhouse Writers' Roundtable will host a free writing workshop from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Palmdale Playhouse, 38334 10th St. East.
The topic for the first of four free writing workshops this season is "Novel and Short Story Writing - It's About Crime."
Writers' Roundtable Director
Jude Bradley
will lead the discussion about writing crime stories. Topics covered will include what works and what does not work in the areas of true crime, suspense and classic "whodunit" stories and novels.
An open forum will be held as well as exciting writing prompts to get participants motivated in one of the most challenging avenues of creative writing. The event is free, but registration is encouraged.
Other free writing workshops this season include screenwriting, poetry and character development.
The Palmdale Writers' Roundtable is open to writers of all genres, including fiction, journalism, children's stories, poetry and screenplay.
Program members meet on the first and third Thursday of every month at the Palmdale Playhouse. The goal of the program is to provide a forum where ideas and styles can be shared in a supportive atmosphere.
